Alexandra Burr and Allen Slamic first met while studying for their Masters in Architecture at Yale. While working at Rafael Vinoly and Ten Arquitectos, the two spent their evenings building prototypes for lighting fixtures and furniture. Their professional partnership would come shortly after with the formation of AlexAllen Studio in 2013. Based in Gowanus, Brooklyn, AlexAllen Studio creates minimal, elegant lighting fixtures and furniture. The 2x4 Pendant elevates the simple form of a 2x4 by adding metal detailing and high quality natural wood to create a sophisticated yet subtle piece. This passion for craftsmanship guides AlexAllen Studio’s approach, including the design of the Chord Pendant series, which takes inspiration from minimal jewelry designs.
