About Avram Rusu Studio

Andreea Avram Rusu opened her eponymous studio in 2004 on the Williamsburg waterfront, having worked with Atelier Christian de Portzamparc in Paris before arriving in New York City. Here she employs artisanal techniques and luxurious materials, creating meticulously crafted, furniture, lighting and accessories. A rigorous attention to detail and construction characterizes much of her work, where custom modular components allow flexibility of form and finish combinations. Hand-blown glass informs a lyrical use of color and pattern that underpins her signature Confetti and Continuum lighting collections. Each piece – straddling the line between art and design – is prototyped and hand built, supported by a close-knit network of local artists and artisans, including glass blowers, ceramic artists, metal workers, machinists, finishers and wood workers.

Avram Rusu is a veteran of the design industry, having featured heavily in publications like Interior Design and The New York Times, showing prolifically at NYCxDESIGN, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and Maison & Objet, while remaining an active member of HGTV’s Professional Network and the Female Design Council.
