Bill Curry
Stemlite Wall Lamp
Soft diffuse light and flawlessly calibrated curves characterize the Stemlite Wall Lamp - a lost gem of the space race era.
Designed by the famed Bill Curry, the Stemlite was the first ‘total look’ lamp, a pioneering new typology that replaced traditional base and shade construction with a singular all-in-one unit. Curry's Stemlite, was named “most influential lamp of the year” by Industrial Design Magazine in 1965 and was even used on the set of the original Star Trek TV series. While much imitated over the years, the original Stemlite series remained in production through 1977. Nearly a half century later, Danish design brand GUBI has remastered this iconic piece of American design history with its original tulip-like construction, curved stem, and mouthblown glass globe. Each graceful sconce comes complete with a grey textile cord and rotary dimmer switch at the stem's apex.
Available in a rich black chrome finish, the Stemlite Wall Lamp works beautifully with the other pieces from Curry's Stemlite collection - whispering of the past while arcing beautifully into the future.
