Miren Lasnier

A graduate of three design schools in Paris, l'ecole Boulle, ENSAAMA, and ENSCI, Miren Lasnier used to spend her long subway rides to and from class filling her sketchbooks with ideas. She continued her expansive education while honing her craft on the international stage in Copenhagen and New York working with Élément Commun Studio, Creme Design, Aurélien Barbry, as well as a host of other agencies.

Lasnier returned to Paris to focus on her own designs and founded the jewelry brand, ïu in 2014. She showed a keen interest in balancing the practical and the playful, the industrial and the imaginative, and her necklaces and earrings highlight materials not often utilized in jewelry, like raw birch wood. With each piece, Lasnier is deeply involved in every step of her creations, from design to production and distribution, in an effort not to separate drafting from fashioning.

In addition to producing handmade jewelry, Lasnier has partnered with the manufacturer Juniper to launch a modern lighting line in 2018. To create this family of sconces and pendants, Lasnier drew inspiration from the aesthetics of the Industrial Revolution. The series combines extruded angles and soft finishes to form elegant fixtures with unexpected and unique shapes - a perfect reflection of the designer's aesthetic grounding in the juxtaposition of luxury, industry, and creativity.
