Thoughtful installation is an essential part of a well-finished cabinet. These guidelines apply to our collection of cabinet knobs, handles, and pulls, as well as select pieces from the Profile Hardware Collection. Take care to measure and position each piece before drilling, and always defer to your cabinetmaker, installer, or appliance manufacturer when specific installation requirements apply.

 

General Installation Instructions

 

SCREW SPECIFICATIONS:

• Dshop cabinet hardware is tapped for U.S. standard 8-32 screws. Standard 1-inch pan-head combination-drive screws are included with the hardware. Additional screw lengths are widely available at home improvement stores throughout the United States.
• If you need longer screws, 1 3/4-inch breakaway screws are available at no additional charge when requested before your order ships. To request longer screws, contact shop@thedpages.com before shipment.

 

APPLIANCE HANDLES:

• Appliance handles, generally 12 inches or longer, are tapped for U.S. standard 1/4-20 screws.
• Because appliance door construction, mounting requirements, and specifications vary significantly among manufacturers and models, consult your appliance installer or qualified professional to determine whether the selected hardware and mounting method are appropriate for the appliance and capable of handling the force required for everyday opening and closing.

 

MEASURING AND DRILLING:

• Center-to-center measurements for our cabinet hardware are provided on our website. Do not drill solely from a listed center-to-center measurement. Before drilling, use the actual hardware to verify the mounting locations and confirm that the measurements correspond to your cabinet or drawer configuration.
• For standard cabinet hardware:
  1. Determine the number of mounting holes required.
  2. Position the hardware where desired and carefully mark each mounting location.
  3. Use a 1/8-inch drill bit to drill the appropriate pilot hole or holes.
  4. To help minimize the risk of chipping or splintering the cabinet surface, place painter’s tape over each marked drilling location before drilling.
  5. Drill through the tape, then remove the tape after drilling.
• For complex hardware, including the Profile Handles, Classic-05, and Fauna Series, specialty mounting components may require a different installation process. These products should be mounted during installation according to their specific mounting requirements included with your shipment.

 

HAND INSTALLATION RECOMMENDED: 

• Install cabinet knobs, pulls, and handles by hand with a screwdriver. Power drills can make it easier to overtighten or strip screws, damage mounting posts, or damage the hardware.
• Tighten the hardware securely, but avoid excessive force.

 

THIN CABINET OR DRAWER FACES: 

• If your cabinet door or drawer face is thinner than average, we recommend using lock washers on the inside face of the cabinet or drawer. Position the lock washer between the wood surface and the screw head to help maintain a secure installation.

 

Profile Handle Installation Instructions

 

Profile Handles are designed with adjustable mounting configurations that allow for symmetrical or asymmetrical installations and, where applicable, multiple mid-mounts.

 

STEP 1: MARK AND DRILL ALL MOUNTING POINTS

• Using a level and measuring tape, determine and mark the pilot-hole locations for the two end mounts.
• Depending on the length of the profile bar, the end mounts may be positioned 6, 12, or 18 inches center-to-center.
• If your configuration includes one or more mid-mounts, determine the desired location of each mid-mount and mark those mounting points accordingly. The mid-mount is adjustable and may be positioned off-center to create an asymmetrical look. Multiple mid-mounts can also be used to create a customized pattern.
• Drill all pilot holes before beginning assembly.
• Use a 1/8-inch drill bit for the pilot holes. Place painter’s tape over each marked drilling location before drilling to help minimize the risk of chipping the cabinet surface. Remove the tape after drilling.
• Center-to-center measurements are provided as a reference; verify the mounting locations before drilling rather than predrilling solely from the listed measurement.

 

STEP 2: INSTALL THE FIRST END MOUNT AND MID-MOUNTS

• Align the first end mount with its pilot hole and secure it using one of the included 8-32 screws.
• If your installation includes mid-mounts, align each mid-mount with its corresponding pilot hole and fasten it securely to the cabinet or drawer surface.
• Install the hardware by hand using a screwdriver. Power drills are not recommended, as they can strip screws, break mounting posts, or damage the hardware.
• Tighten the screws securely, but avoid excessive force.
• If the cabinet or drawer face is thinner than average, use a lock washer on the inside face between the wood surface and the screw head to help maintain a secure installation.

 

STEP 3: INSERT THE PROFILE BAR 

• If your configuration includes mid-mounts, slide the profile bar through the installed mid-mounts.
• Continue sliding the bar until it is fully seated in the secured first end mount.

 

STEP 4: SECURE THE SECOND END MOUNT

• With the profile bar supported by the first end mount and any mid-mounts, position the second end mount onto the exposed end of the bar.
• Align the second end mount with the pre-drilled pilot hole and secure it to the cabinet or drawer surface using the provided 8-32 screw.
• Install the screw by hand using a screwdriver and avoid excessive force.
• Once both end mounts are securely anchored, the assembly is held in place by the tension created between the mounted end points.
