Ester & Erik

Founded in 1987 by Ester and Erik Møller, Ester & Erik is a family-owned candle maker based in Silkeborg, Denmark. Its work reflects the restrained elegance of Danish design, using color, proportion and candlelight to shape the atmosphere of a room. Behind each collection lies a business built on two generations of the Møller family’s expertise.

The founders brought complementary skills to their work. Erik developed the equipment used to dip the candles, while Ester directed their coloring, lacquer finishes and careful presentation. Their son, Søren Møller, took over in 2001, continuing a manufacturing tradition rooted in Denmark. For the company’s taper candles, successive dips in warm wax gradually build the form - a process that gives each candle its gently narrowing silhouette.

Among the Ester & Erik candles at DSHOP are the tall, slim tapered candles made for STOFF Nagel candle holders. Their elongated profiles introduce a vertical rhythm above the holders’ rounded metal forms, bringing another dimension to the modular design. Color becomes part of the arrangement, allowing the same candle holder to take on a different character with each setting.
