When she couldn’t find the right knobs and pulls for her interior design projects, designer Jessica Davis decided to create her own. This soon led to the founding of her brand, Nest Studio, in 2012, with the goal of designing unique, small-run hardware with high-end finishes. With a background in art history and interior design, Davis looked to the Bauhaus and Art Deco movements for inspiration. Today, Nest Studio is known for its unique material combinations such as the Transparency Series, which fuses brass and acrylic to create remarkable, modern pieces. Nest Studio’s dedication to creating unique pieces can be seen in its focus on craftsmanship—the brand’s one-of-a-kind Ram’s Head handle is a result of diligent collaboration with skilled artisans. The brand’s dedication to designing innovative hardware has earned it accolades in Architectural Digest and the Wall Street Journal, as well as awards from the IFDA and NYCxDESIGN. The company also recently founded a “moms-helping-moms” program that helps first-time mothers gain office skills through internships in the Nest Studio office. As the brand continues to expand, Davis has kept her focus on designing sophisticated, unique pieces that maintain function while combining materials in innovative ways.
