Sunao Pots & Vases
Sunao is the Japanese word for being honest, and the Sunao Collection reflects this meaning through clear, uncomplicated forms and enduring proportions. The collection includes both large pots for plants and trees and smaller vases, designed to suit a wide range of uses and settings.
The larger Sunao vessels and plant pots are crafted from durable fiber concrete, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Each planter features a discreet drainage hole at the base and a matching saucer to support healthy water flow and air circulation. The smaller Sunao vessels and vases are made from ceramic and hand-glazed to achieve a soft, matte surface. Finished with a waterproof interior coating, they are fully watertight and suitable for fresh flowers.
Shaped by hand and inspired by natural textures, the Sunao Collection offers finishes in Birch and Black, along with the Beehive texture, which emphasizes a tactile, organic surface. This textured variation is created from casts of shellfish found along the shoreline, giving each piece a distinct and natural character. As with all handcrafted objects, subtle variations in color and surface may occur.
Available in a wide range of sizes and shapes, Sunao transitions effortlessly from small vases in kitchen or tabletop settings to larger statement pieces and plant pots designed for living spaces, patios, or gardens. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl for 101 Copenhagen, the Sunao Collection brings together material, form, and function in a beautifully calm, balanced expression.
