The CH23 Dining Chair, created by Hans J. Wegner in 1950 for Carl Hansen & Søn, was among his first chair designs for the company. The pieces he created at this time were not only unique but also set new standards for modern furniture with their artistic expression and ergonomic form.
Despite its seemingly simple appearance, the CH23 chair boasts a myriad of intricate and refined features. These include elegant cruciform cover caps on the backrest, a double-woven seat, and gracefully arched rear legs that ensure unparalleled stability.
In 2017, Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced the CH23 Dining Chair, reincorporating this iconic masterpiece into its collection. True to Wegner's original hand-drawn sketches, the design faithfully preserves all aesthetic and structural elements, honoring the timeless essence of this classic Danish Modern furniture piece.
