VLA62 Radio House Mirror
With the successful reintroduction of the iconic Vega Chair and Foyer Series, Danish furniture manufacturer Carl Hansen & Søn and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects continue their partnership by re-introducing a timeless yet modernist mirror to an expanded clientele.
Designed in 1945, Vilhelm Lauritzen's VLA62 Radio House Mirror was originally made for the Royal Retiring Room in Radio House, Copenhagen. The room served as royal chambers to the royal box, overlooking the concert hall in the building now known as the Royal Danish Academy of Music. An all-encompassing work of art, every piece of furniture in this building was designed by Lauritzen. The architect / designer approached architecture and interior design as a whole - creating every element in his functionalist style, from door handles and banisters to lighting and furnishings.
Crafted using FSC™-certified solid oak, the full-length VLA62 Radio House Mirror exudes a Scandinavian aesthetic. Comprised of eight meticulously carved sections that are expertly aligned to ensure a seamless grain pattern, each piece is hand-sanded to create a smooth finish. Housed within a deep, concave frame with rounded corners, the mirror is embraced by its surroundings. The Radio House Mirror's substantial and artisan-focused design adds a welcoming and unique touch to any interior it adorns, looking particularly stunning in entryways, hallways, bedrooms, and offices.
