Panthella Portable

Panthella Portable Lamps

Panthella Portable lamps by Verner Panton for Louis Poulsen carry a distinctive chapter of Danish design into everyday life. Panton began collaborating with Louis Poulsen in the 1960s, exploring how color, materials and reflection could create a different experience of light. Introduced in 1971, the original Panthella brought those experiments together in an organic form whose shade and trumpet-shaped base both served as reflectors. Today’s rechargeable table lamps preserve that central idea, giving the iconic design new freedom through cordless operation.

DSHOP’s selection includes the Panthella 160 Portable and Panthella 250 Portable. The 160 has a compact, approximately 6.3-inch-wide shade, making it an intimate accent for smaller surfaces, from a bedside table to a bookshelf. The 250’s approximately 9.8-inch-wide shade gives it a more substantial presence on a console, side table or dining table. Both portable lamps offer rechargeable LED lighting and adjustable brightness, bringing Panton’s approach to soft, comfortable illumination into contemporary interiors.

Color changes more than the Panthella Portable lamp’s appearance. Opal shades allow light to glow through their translucent surfaces, while opaque versions direct illumination downward toward the reflective base. The palette continues Panton’s expressive approach to lighting design, with selected Original opal colors revisiting the early Panthella collection. Available colors and finishes vary between sizes. Explore DSHOP’s full portable lighting collection for more cordless, rechargeable designs perfect for home, hospitality, or contract interiors.
