Rooted in a passion for wood in its purest form, L.Ercolani was founded by Italy-born furniture maker Lucian Ercolani in 1920. Upon moving to England, Ercolani would found his business in the heart of High Wycombe, a historic hub for furniture making nested in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire. It was here that the young designer first crafted an innovative process for industrializing the classic Windsor chair with unparalleled precision and ingenuity and it was this method of mass production, combined with the designer's passion for clean architectural lines, that would propel the Ercolani brand to far-reaching success by the end of the 1940s.
A craftsman at heart and charismatic to his core, Lucian Ercolani managed to imbue his creations with a rare combination of warmth and precision - the result was a furniture collection of lasting relevance firmly grounded in the aesthetics and sensibilities of mid-century modernism.
Today, Lucian Ercolani is celebrated as a key visionary in the world of mid-century modernism while the L.Ercolani brand continues to produce iconic and forward-looking pieces in the same historic county of its founding, Buckinghamshire, England.
Surrounded by local woodlands, L.Ercolani honors its position in space and time with a passion for sustainability and the environment. The brand has coupled this thoughtful approach to past, present, and future through its robust collaborations with an international roster of design talents including Norm Architects, Atlason Studio, Jonas Wagell, Lars Beller Fjetland, Tomoko Azumi and Matthew Hilton - an approach that carries on the traditions of the brand - combining timeless materials, designs, and traditions with the capabilities and possibilities of tomorrow.
